This new alleged Nokia Ad (is a spoof?) is bound to cause some troubles with PETA. It’s one of those videos that makes you wince at first, then gradually turn into laughter, like most Conan O’Brien jokes :D (from BoingBoing)

Peter Chung was an investment banker who just made #85 in Business 2.0’s 101 Dumbest Moments in Business. He is most famous for the email he sent to his buddies describing how he’s the “KING of his domain in Seoul”. Reading his email is just sickening and infuriating. He was rightly fired by the Carlyle group after the incident, but unfortunately this types of problems are prevalent in Korea still. There are too many jackasses in Korea who has the mindset and live the lifestyle of Peter Chung.

One group of ricers dissing another group of ricers, heh… (from S2000 forum, thanks to Bennet)
Aw man, what a waste of great car though. But then, he kinda reminds me of myself 3 years ago when I first go my car with manual tranny — although I wasn’t as half bad as him, really! ^^;

Saw Wonder Boys on DVD. I guess the main theme of the movie is that everyone has to make choices in life, or live a meaningless, “tenured” life, that you will regret when it’s too late.
Here’re some memorable quotes from the interviews with Michael Douglas and Curtis Hanson (the director).
Wonder Boy is somebody who had “effortless success”, but didn’t really have the ability to analyze the talent where it came from, and was caught - after that success happened - how to replicate it.
– Michael Douglas
The challenge is to accept what is, and move on from it, and recognize that certain things you do, you were able to do because who and what you were at a certain point in life, and things change, and you can’t always be young… you can’t always be the wonder boy, but you can turn into something else.
– Curtis Hanson

Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder, has got to be one of the most entertaining book I’ve ever read. The book guides you (and Sophie) thru the entire history of Philosophy, from Socrates to Freud. If it makes reading about Philosophy fun, it’s gotta be a great book! ^^

I think I will move my blog to my personal webpage on http://www.csua.berkeley.edu/~minwoo soon. I’ve been experimenting with Movabletype and found it has lot more advanced features than blogger. The fact that blogger was acquired by Google has nothing to do with this migration, althogh my co-worker –who shall remain anonymous — thinks Google is evil ^^

How much is your life worth? The economy, and the inflation of the value of one’s life… from slate. Although on the face of it, it may seem immoral to put a monetary value on one’s life, it does happen in everyday life. For instance, why does safer cars cost more than others? (okay, some people pay excessive amount of money for less safe cars.. but that’s a different discussion) Safer houses / neighborhood? Safer doctors and medicine? Also, what’s is life-insurance, but assessing a value on one’s life? (hmm.. maybe my friend John who works for an insurance company have more insight on this issue…)
