Apple Store Mania

Check out this amazing QuickTime video of people waiting for the new Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo to open. @_@ There are est. 2500 people in line, covering almost 8 city blocks. You can see how orderly Japanese people are. It would’ve been the biggest mob scene if this was in Korea ;)

Pieces of April

Pieces of April (imdb), written and directed by Peter Hedges (who wrote the screenplay for About a Boy), is a film about a girl’s desperate, though reluctant, attempt at her one last chance to reconcile with her family, who she has deserted. This is a directorial debut of Hedges, and I think coming from writing screenplays, he chose to focus more on the story telling, rather than the visuals (in fact, the whole movie seem as if it was filmed using a regular home video camera)… With a solid story like this, who needs all the fancy eye candy anyway? :)

It’s a wonderful film to rouse the holiday spirit in us. Not many people will know about this movie, let alone watch it.. which is very unfortunate. But for me, it’s going to be more memorable than this year’s blockbuster (whatever that was).

A neutron walks into a bar and asks “how much for a beer?” The bartender replies “for you, no charge.”

Protons have mass? I didn’t even know they were Catholic!

More on information overload

Continuing on previous entry about the information overload…

BBC NEWS | UK | Magazine | Reclaim your brain

More information has been produced and stored in the past five years, than at any time in human history. E-mails, text messages, mobile phone calls, TV, websites. We are drowning in the stuff. But how much of it has added to the sum of human knowledge? And has anyone thought what it is doing to our brains?

The article talks about a group that promotes annual Turn-off TV week. A week without a TV would be no problem for me.. but it would be pretty hard for me to live without the Internet for a week.

The Station Agent

The Station Agent is a film about a group of three lonely individuals, a dwarf, a mother, a son, each trying to cope with their fear, past, and burden… who come together and find comfort in each other. Some may find it slow-paced and boring, but I found it to be calming, even relaxing to watch. It’s funny, it’s sad.. but ultimately, it’s a snapshot of what life is all about. I enjoyed it extremely.
