BlockBuster Online

I joined BB online last night. It’s very much like Netflix or W*lmart service (rent 3 movies out at once, with no time limit), but BB also gives you 2 coupons per month, good for movies/games rentals at any of their retails stores. The regular price is $17.49/mth (with 2 weeks free trial), but you can follow this link to get it for just $14.99/mth :)

Better than JAWS!

“A great white shark breaches the water in False Bay, Cape Town, South Africa, in this undated file photo. A shark of the same species attacked and presumably killed an elderly woman, Tyna Webb, as she swam Monday Nov. 15, 2004 off Sunny Cove in Fish Hoek as she had for 17 years. About 15 people witnessed the attack and she was presumed dead, officials said. (AP Photo/Chris Fallows, Die Burger, File)”

Fat Americans, not good for health, not good for the environment

Welcome to the Tucson Citizen

Through the 1990s, the average weight of Americans increased by 10 pounds, says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The extra weight caused airlines to spend $275 million to burn 350 million more gallons of fuel in 2000 to carry the additional weight, the federal centers estimated in a recent issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.

The extra fuel burned had an environmental impact, as an estimated 3.8 million extra tons of carbon dioxide were released into the air, the study says.

It was the underlying cause of 400,000 deaths in 2000, a 33 percent jump from 1990.

If the trend persists, it will become the nation’s No. 1 cause of preventable death, the centers said earlier this year.

Hmm.. wait a minute.. Does that mean jet fuel only costs about $1.25/gallon?? Is there a car that run on jet fuel? ;)

VOTE!

I know it’s not going to make much difference here in California, but everyone should go out and VOTE!

Standing in line at the polling place this morning, I remebered an episode from my Jr. High. days. I was thirteen, and my family had just moved to US. I could not read, write, or speak English, so my life in school were quite miserable to say the least. One day, my home room teacher passed around small pieces of papers to everyone, and students wrote something on it while trying not to show it to their neighbors. Not knowing what in the heck is going on, I just sat there, my mind frantically trying to guess what other people were doing.. Then, this nice girl came by, wrote something on my paper, and took it.. kindly smiling at me. `Ah, thank you, thank you`. Well, so I thought.. As you can all guess, they were holding an election for the class president. And that wench just took an advantage of a FOB to get another vote for herself! I don’t remember whether she got elected.. I couldn’t really care less. But I do wonder what happened to that girl.. Maybe she’s working for Karl Rove in Bush campaign..

Cal vs. ASU

Nikon D70, 18mm f/3.5 1/25

Nikon D70, 200mm f/5.6 1/50

Went to Cal vs. ASU game last Saturday night with some friends. Cal won that game 27-zip!! Go BEARS! I wasn’t much of a football fan when I was in school but now I realize that these things really bring out the school spirit out of you.. especially when they are doing so well! ;) If both Cal and USC win remainder of their games in this season, Cal will have a chance to play in Rose Bowl this coming New Years day, woohooo~
