Slashdot | Coming Soon, The Google Translator

“통통한 몸매에서 날씬하고 섹시한 몸매로 탈바꿈했던 베이비복스의 막내 윤은혜가 2달만에 ‘요요현상’이 나타난 것이 아니냐는 우려가 제기되고 있다.”

translated to English is:

“The tube with the time limit shape it will be slender from the shape which leads and seyk it will burn, it changes and the hemp cloth right luck su lastborn wheel benefit ‘ isn’t the bedspread bedspread actual condition ‘ appearing worry is proposed at only 2 month.” (Google Translation)

“The tube the hemp cloth right luck which with the sexy one shape is slender from the shape which leads and changes su lastborn wheel benefit bedspread bedspread actual condition isn’t appearing worry is proposed at only 2 months.” (Babel Fish - Yahoo! Company)

At least both correctly translated “2 month”… MT (Machine Translation) is still FAR from being useful.

Irreversible

Irreversible - Movie Info - Yahoo! Movies

C+

When you wake up in the morning, you do not have any idea how the day will turn out. In case of characters in Irreversible, it turned out for their worst imaginable.

Overall, it’s a well-made film. The film maker uses series of long takes, cleverly stitched together using dizzying camera movements and help of digital technology - the whole film is a 95 minutes-long long take. (If you get motion sickness easily, I highly discourage you from watching this film). Like Memento and Peppermint Candy, the time flow backward.. but unlike these films, story dynamic of Irreversible also flows backward - resolution to climax to set-up, etc… no surprise ending like Memento, and no heart-wrenching drama of Peppermint Candy. After the terrifying rape-scene, I felt empty, kept looking at the clock to see how many more minutes are left. I give them credit for imaginative techniques and the shock-factor, but without a strong story, it’s only gimmick. But then.. if you want to see beautiful Monica Bellucci naked, this may be the movie for you! ^^;;

Cracking the Real Estate Code

Wired 13.05: Cracking the Real Estate Code

When there’s an information asymmetry, there’s money to be made. Read about how your real estate agents do take advantage of that fact.

on the sale of your $300,000 house, her personal take of the $18,000 commission is $4,500. Still not bad, you say. But what if the house was worth more than $300,000? What if, with a little more effort and patience, she could have sold it for $310,000? After the commission, that puts an additional $9,400 in your pocket. Yet the agent’s additional share - her personal 1.5 percent - is a mere $150. So maybe your incentives aren’t aligned after all. Is the agent willing to put out all that extra time and energy for just $150?

John Donohue, a law professor who in 2001 was teaching at Stanford University: “I was just about to buy a house on the Stanford campus, and the seller’s agent kept telling me what a good deal I was getting because the market was about to zoom. As soon as I signed the purchase contract, he asked me if I would need an agent to sell my previous Stanford house. I told him that I would probably try to sell without an agent, and he replied, ‘John, that might work under normal conditions, but with the market tanking now, you really need the help of a broker.’”

Tour de France Adventure

Dude Girl Tour de France Cycling Trip and Mountain Biking Trips in Bulgaria

Here’s a chance to see the Tour in person, and climb up the same mountains the pro’s do! Dave, my training buddy from AIDS/Lifecycle last year, did this only 2 weeks after he completed 7 days ride from SF->LA. Looking at the ride spec, it sounds VERY difficult but this would be the ultimate vacation for a cyclist!

Your iPod just became useful

This plug-in for winamp lets you not manage songs in iPod, it lets you copy songs from iPod to computer! (okay, ephPod does that too)

Closer

Closer - Movie Info - Yahoo! Movies

A-

Closer, starting Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen), is a story about disturbed love lives of 4 people… it is painfully difficult to watch, yet the story strangely draws you in. Acting and directing are also superb. Julia and Natlie are really beutiful as always, but those who only know Natalie as Padme from Star Wars would be in for a real surprise. Clive Owen’s (a Brit who stared in BMW films) acting really shines as well.

The main theme song The Blower’s Daughter by Damien Rice is hauntingly beutiful…

Sunset Breeze House

Michelle Kaufmann Designs

Michelle Kaufmann, the designer of this house was featured on today’s California Report. She told a story that when she moved to the Bay Area and found that she and her husband couldn’t afford a house, she decided to design one herself. It’s a new generation of pre-fab (think mobile-home) - they called it fabprefab .. and costs bit more too. Intelligently designed and environment friendly.. I wouldn’t mind living in it at all (only if I could afford 2000+ sq ft of land in the Bay Area plus $300K+ for matrial and construction) *sigh*

You can also read about it on Sunset magazine.

There’s an openhouse tomorrow (5/20) in Menlo Park. If you’ll be in the area.

SportPhoto

Last weekend, I ran/walked the Bay to Breaker, “the largest footrace in the world”, with couple of friends. (More on that later…) Anyway, SportPhoto.net was the official photo service of the event. They take pictures of you throughout the race, then you can go look it up on their website with your bib number. Well, I found following two photos on my bib number:

That’s me in red shirt on the first photo.. not so easy to find on the second photo, however.. LOL

Revenge of the Sith

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith - Movie Info - Yahoo! Movies

Yahoo! Search group took few hours off today to go watch this today… and I’ll just say that it’s best of the prequel trilogy. The good: story (good closure, finally!), special effects, the Wookies; the bad: dialogues; the ugly: huge buttons on Darth Vader’s chest-plate.

I give it an “A” :)
