Dubya, on Torture

Statement by the President (6/26/2003)

Today, on the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the United States declares its strong solidarity with torture victims across the world. Torture anywhere is an affront to human dignity everywhere. We are committed to building a world where human rights are respected and protected by the rule of law.

I call on all governments to join with the United States and the community of law-abiding nations in prohibiting, investigating, and prosecuting all acts of torture and in undertaking to prevent other cruel and unusual punishment.

South Korean Favored to Win Top Job at U.N. - New York Times

South Korean Favored to Win Top Job at U.N. - New York Times

Ban Ki-moon, the South Korean foreign minister, moved significantly closer on Thursday to becoming the successor to Kofi Annan as United Nations secretary general by maintaining a wide lead over six other candidates in the Security Council’s third informal poll.

I can already imagine so many headline pun with his name. It’s no surprise he has the full backing of Bush administration, since US has Korea by its balls. Sad but true.. :-(

Jesus Camp - review

I just came back from Jesus Camp screening. The documentary follows few kids and a pastor of an evangelical children’s church in their Christian Summer camp. Most of the stuffs are pretty typical of what’s going on in church camps… but what’s shocking, was the depth of which these kids were brainwashed by a bunch of hypocrites.

The pastor (pictured left) claims that all Muslims are raising their kids to become suicide bombers - to give up their lives for god.. and that we must declare a war on them. Then later in the film, she asks “would you give up your life for God?” to which everyone shouts “YES!” Is she raising Chrisitan-Jihad’ists?

Needless to say, most of these kids are also being home schooled. Statistics show that 75% of the home schooled kids are from evangelical families. And the main reason for doing so is because they don’t want their kids to learn Evolution from school. But not only that, the home school matrials also “teaches” that the global warming is not real! What agenda does that serve other the Bush administration’s policies?! I couldn’t believe what I was watching was really happening in America.

Real kicker was when one of the kid goes to Washington D.C. for pro-life rally. She asks a bunch of African-American men, whether they thought they’d go to heaven if they died now. When they replied “yeah” she turns around and tells her friend with a solemn face: “I think they were Muslims”

This is a very important documentary that should come as wake-up call for all real Americans to take actions against, or at least be warned of the Christian fundamentalists’ attempts to take further control of America (it may already be too late, with majority of Supreme court now conservatives). It’s not an anti-christian or anti-religion movie, as some sane Christians like Mike Papantonio makes appearance speaking against christian fundamentals.

It’s a MUST-WATCH!

Tesla Motors

Martin Eberhard, founder of Tesla Motors came to speak at Yahoo! today. Based in San Carlos, CA, they make EV (electric vehicle) capable of going 0-60mph in less than 4 seconds, and top speed of 130mph! The battery fully charges in about 3.5 hours and will last for upto 250 miles. It will set you back $100K, but will smoke any supercars twice as expensive as that (and at twice the energy efficiency as Prius). He mentioned $50K version is coming up in few years.

Jesus Camp

Apple - Trailers - Jesus Camp - Trailer

Watch the trailer for the movie Jesus Camp. It’s a scary thought that these kids will grow up to rule the nation when I’m about to retire. This kind of religious fanaticism is a real “virus for the mind”

Put that in MUST-WATCH category
