Richard Dawkins: Why There Almost Certainly Is No God
“We’re all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further”, says Richard Dawkins, a world famous atheist and the author of many best selling books including Selfish Gene. He has written a stark essay on why he believes there is no god. Kinda long, but well worth reading.
He’s written a new book called The God Delusion and has setup Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reasons & Science. Watch the introduction video here.
Here’s a greasemonkey script for Firefox which gives you gmail-esq keyboard navigation on old Yahoo! Mail. I much prefer this tricked out version of old Yahoo! Mail than the new one.

Also, I’ve modified my “NYTimes Save to MyWeb” script to work with del.icio.us instead.
Dan Theurer - Web services, technology and random thoughts! » Python MyWeb to del.icio.us Exporter
I’ve decided to migrate over to del.icio.us from MyWeb for my bookmarking needs. Exporting bookmarks from MyWeb ignores all associated tags, so I was thinking about writing a tool to do the exporting and importing using API’s available for both services. Then I found this cool tool which does just that. Excellent! ^^
Official Google Blog: Do you “Google?”
Usage: ‘Google’ as verb referring to searching for information on, um, Google.
Example: “I googled him on the well-known website Google.com and he seems pretty interesting.”
Our lawyers say: Well, we’re happy at least that it’s clear you mean searching on Google.com. As our friends at Merriam-Webster note, to “Google” means “to use the Google search engine to find information about (as a person) on the World Wide Web.”Usage: ‘Google’ as verb referring to searching for information via any conduit other than Google.
Example: “I googled him on Yahoo and he seems pretty interesting.”
Our lawyers say: Bad. Very, very bad. You can only “Google” on the Google search engine. If you absolutely must use one of our competitors, please feel free to “search” on Yahoo or any other search engine.
Lame-o. I propose a new verb that’s synonymous with ’search’: “googol”! ;-)
Feel free to googol on Yahoo! all you want.
New, better, Yahoo! Bookmarks! It seems to be integrated with MyWeb but does not have the community aspect of it that MyWeb does. I was trying to decide between del.icio.us (which is also Yahoo! company) and MyWeb, which service to use to manage my bookmarks… this new addition certainly does not help me decide - *sigh*
I’m also playing with del.icio.us extension for Firefox 2, which replaces browser bookmarks altogether with easy access to your del.icio.us account. This could be revolutionary, if done right. So far, I’m very impressed with it, but I think it will require lots of time rearranging imported bookmarks “del.icio.us way” to be really useful.
Update: Per Yahoo! Search Blog: “The all new Yahoo! Bookmarks will focus on personal saving, organization, and recovery while our comrades at del.icio.us will concentrate on meeting your social bookmarking and sharing needs. For users of MyWeb, your bookmarks are safe, and in a few months you’ll be able to roll over to either Yahoo! Bookmarks or del.icio.us.” (Thanks Nico)

NPR : The Dog Who Loved to Suck on Toads
“We couldn’t keep our dog’s addiction a secret any longer,” Laura Mirsch says. “The neighbors all knew that Lady was a drug addict, and soon the other dogs weren’t allowed to play with her.”
In the end, Lady seems to have found a way to manage her problem.
“She seems to have outgrown the wild toad-obsessed years of her youth,” Mirsch says, “and now only sucks on weekends.”
