* That average pace figure is not accurate. I wish my pace was that fast, but that’s just uncalibrated sensor’s “optimistic” reading ^^;;

StreetView

As much improvements Yahoo! Maps and other map services have made in recent months, Google just one-upped the competition again with “StreetView” feature. It gives you ground-level photo of the streets. Albeit it’s only available for 5 major cities (San Francisco, Miami, Denver, Las Vegas, New York) for now, this is extremely useful and I loved this feature on, now defunct, A9 map but Google’s implementation is much better. Here’s a StreetView of my home and where I work in Manhattan

The Helvetica Hegemony

How an unassuming font took over the world. - By Mia Fineman - Slate Magazine

I bet most of you can’t think of anything that is more mundane than a type-face. This slide show may change that, and (at least temporarily) alter the way you look at the world. And you may acquire a snobbish distaste for Arial that is so prevalent in Windows world.

Funny, I just saw this exhibit at the MOMA over the weekend, but passed it due to time constraints.. :(

PS: you know those CH bumper stickers? At first, I thought it was short for “China” and was curious why Caucasians drivers would put that on their cars. Then when I went to Switzerland, I learned that it actually stands for Confederatio Helvetica which is Latin for Swiss Confederation :D (Hm, it’s kinda ironic that type-face used on that bumper sticker isn’t Helvetica)
