WWII Vet Says He’s Subject Of Famous Robert Capa Photo
Riley, who says he is the soldier in the photo, appeared Tuesday at the International Center of Photography in New York, which is opening a major Capa exhibition this week.
Wow, what would it feel like to be the subject of one of the most recognized photo of all time?

Luciano Pavarotti
I know it’s bit late. But I heard a fascinating story from KGO yesterday - that Pavarotti was a traveling insurance salesman. And for a while, his career was booming until he lost his voice because he was so successful as a salesman. His success had become his demise. Then he found that singing (vs talking) puts less stress on the vocal chords, and so he decided to give singing a try. And the rest is, as they say, is history…
I also remember hearing somewhere that he does not know how to read music sheets (”bean-sprout” notation, as I would like to call it) and he learns all songs by listening.
I wish I had a chance to see him while he was alive. Some of his operatic arias are so moving even on puny headphones… I can’t imagine how it would feel to listen to him live. Little glad at least my mom got a chance to see him live though.
