Street ricers rejoice! Nissan Skyline will finally make US debut. 480hp and 0-60 in 3.5 sec! Skyline was touted to be one of the best GT cars ever — equaling performance of Porsche 911 and Ferrari for the fraction of the price — but it was never available in US (not through Nissan anyway). It won’t be cheap at “under $80K” but I guess it could be a bargain for a car that just beat 911 Sucks for G37 owners who thought they were buying a Skyline :D
I know I’m nearing (or past?) the age when I should really be thinking about baby seats and mini-vans… but this is pretty exciting news. :-/
Some friends from work took me out to GoKart Racing as my “Bachelor’s Party” last night. It was my first time driving GoKart, so I didn’t do so well compared to others, but it was pretty exhilarating — I was enjoying power sliding little too much, which looks and feels cool but wasn’t the most efficient way to go around corners :-/ At first, I felt that 15 minutes of racing would be too short, but it felt lot longer than that. And in the end, we were all drenched in sweat and our muscles were sore from wrestling with steering wheels.
Thanks all!
Living on Earth: Who’s Your Daddy?
Listened to this fascinating clip on Living on Earth yesterday, about a scientist’s attempt to map the history of journey of our ancestors, aka Genographic Project Highly recommended. I am tempted to shell out $100 for the genetic test kit. But then, Koreans are not very genetically diverse, so I probably won’t add much to the genetic database.
the snowpack in the Sierra Nevada, which provides most of the water for Northern California, was at its lowest level in 20 years. [scientist] noted that even the most optimistic climate models for the second half of this century suggest that 30 to 70 percent of the snowpack will disappear. “There’s a two-thirds chance there will be a disaster,” Chu said, “and that’s in the best scenario.”
Oh, I just wonder which envrionmental disaster(s) will be the real cause of our civilization’s collapse. And most disasters are estimated to occur within my lifetime - or is it our short sightedness that we cannot (or will not) see problems that we can be better prepared further into the future? Oh well, I guess our generation had it “easy” so far, any how :-/
MINI Cooper vs. Mini Cooper
Heh, how many times do you hear people say “[The new Mini] is just too big!”?
Now you can watch more than 300 hours of Berkeley lectures on YouTube
…What do you see? U.C. Berkeley!
LOL
PACS 164A looks pretty interesting.

So, I moved to Oakland yesterday. My new apartment is located in the waterfront district, near Jack London Square, where urban loft developments are booming. And I started taking the Yahoo! shuttle to work from this morning. This morning’s commute wasn’t all that bad, considering it takes about 50 minutes to drive the same distance, going 70+ MPH during off-peak hours. It took me 1:20 door-to-door (5 minutes walk to Jack London Amtrak station, 1:10 on the bus, and 5 minutes walk to the office). Best of all, I don’t have to drive. I actually prefer waking up 30 minutes earlier than being stuck on Lawrence Express way for 20+ minutes. Another plus for riding the shuttle is that all the buses are equipped with wireless internet access points! I’m actually writing this entry on the bus as we head up I-880 :-) It’s wonderful that many tech companies are providing these alternate transportation options.
